EU: Member states must define areas at risk from bird flu

    BRUSSELS, Oct. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- European Union governments must define the areas most at risk from bird flu where wild birds will be separated from poultry to minimise the risk of the disease spreading, the European Commission said on Friday.

    "The biosecurity measures require the member states to take the appropriate measures, according to national circumstances, to reduce the risk of avian influenza being spread from wild birds to domestic birds," the European Commission said in a statement. Enditem
