Bali bombing probe makes little progress

JAKARTA, Oct. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- The probe into simultaneous bombings on Bali island has not found any vital clues to the identity of the perpetrators although investigators have received testimonies from more than 300 witnesses, the Indonesian police admitted Friday.

"We don't arrest the perpetrators yet although hundreds of witnesses had testified," police spokesman Brig. Gen. Soenarko said in Bali.

Local newspapers have published photographs of three severed heads of the alleged suicide bombers in the Oct. 1 attacks, but Soenarko said there was no tip-off that led to their identity, which could give a momentum to the investigation process.

Meanwhile, the forensic team is faced with many problems to launch DNA tests, he said without elaborating.

Police believed that besides the three suicide bombers, the attacks were facilitated by other terrorists.

"We have been hunting the other suspects, but there is no vitalclue," he was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying.

The attacks on three different locations on the resort island killed at least 23 people and injured 120 others. Enditem
