HOHHOT, Oct. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- The forest fire that
broke out Wednesday night in a mountain area of north China's Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region has been under control, local government said Friday
afternoon.
A total of 1,387 fire fighters and forest police officers were mobilized Thursday evening to put out the forest
fire in the Gaojishan forestry located in the Uynur Township of the Hulun
BuirCity.
By the early morning of Friday, most of the fires had
been quenched. There was no strong wind in the afternoon in the forestry, so the
fire did not recover and was "basically brought under control," according to
local officials.
No casualties have been reported.
Forest police officers and staff members of the
forestry are still stationed there to clear the scenes and guard against more
fires.
The Gaojishan mountain area is covered with thick
springwood ofbirch and has a very complicated topography. The cause of the
