BEIJING, Oct. 14 -- China's most authoritative film festival, the 42nd annual Taiwan Golden Horse Awards, will take place November 4 to 17.

China's hottest actress Zhang Ziyi's first Japanese film "Princess Raccoon" was picked as this year's curtain raiser while French director Francois Ozon's "Time To Leave" will be the event's closer.

A total of 76 films have applied to enter the contest this year, 20 films more than last year, and nominations will be unveiled October 18.

Hong Kong award-winning star Andy Lau will likely besiege this year's Best Actor Award with his four films, "Yesterday Once More", "A World without Thief", "Wait Till You're Older" and "All about Love".
