BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- China's first spaceman, Yang Liwei, who went to space two years ago has contributed many advices to the improvement of Shenzhou-6, the country's second manned spacecraft, a senior expert said here Thursday.

According to Zhang Bainan, chief designer of the spacecraft system, Yang told technicians after his one-day space voyage that he was satisfied with the comfortable seat in the capsule of Shenzhou-5, the vehicle which carried him to space, except for a few modifications.

Yang proposed modifications to the window of the return module for astronauts to look outside more easily. He also suggested cords be used to replace zippers for sealing waste bags in space.

With Yang's advice, engineers relocated the seats of the Shenzhou-6 spacecraft so that the astronauts can have the best view outside while sitting at the chairs. Velcro are used to replace zippers on bags.

Zhang did not give more details about Yang's advices, and said engineers had made more improvements in the Chinese manned spacecraft on the basis of Shenzhou-5.

The improvement ranged from the control of noise, shaking and light to the size of figures on the meters.

The two astronauts now traveling in space will offer more suggestions for the improvement of Chinese manned space vehicles after their return a few days later, Zhang said. Enditem
