Hu Jintao meets visiting IOC President Rogge

Chinese President Hu Jintao met visiting International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge who was invited to attend China's 10th National Games here on Wednesday.

    NANJING, East China, Oct. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao met visiting International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge who was invited to attend China's 10th National Games here on Wednesday.

    Hu extended welcome to Rogge and the visiting IOC members and expressed gratitude to IOC for making contributions to the development of China's sports.

    Hu said that the National Games is the biggest and the highest-level sports meet in China and it is being held as a rehearsal of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to evaluate the Chinese athletes and to further enhance the preparation for the Beijing Olympics.

    Hu stressed that the preparation is being implemented strictly with the help of IOC, and the Chinese government attaches great importance and extends full support to the preparation.

    China will fulfill its promise and spare no efforts for a high-level Olympic Games in 2008 with characteristics, Hu said.

    The Chinese president also said that China is willing to take further suggestions and to strengthen cooperation with IOC, to fulfill the dream of all sport circles in the world.

    Rogge said he was glad to meet President Hu Jintao again and was grateful to the Chinese host for inviting him to attend the country's 10th National Games.

    The IOC has been keeping sound relations with the Beijing Olympic Games Organizing Committee and has accomplished greatly inthe preparation efforts for a high-quality Olympic Games, he said,noting that the Chinese athletes made remarkable achievements at the Athens Olympics.

    The IOC president expressed his belief that the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will surely realize "One World, One Dream". Enditem
