NANJING, East China, Oct. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao declared open of the 10th National Games amid a grand opening ceremony at the modern Olympic Sports Complex here Wednesday evening. 

    Taking part in the biggest-ever National Games are 9,985 athletes of 46 delegations from all the provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, the People's Liberation Army, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and various sports associations of the trades such as railways, coal mining, forestry, finance and banking and aviation.

    The Games, with the theme as "sports meet and people's festival", features 32 sports including all the sports in the summer Olympics.

    Before the official kick-off of the quadrennial Games, the finals of 115 events from winter sports and such summer sports as wrestling and diving have been concluded. Enditem
