US Secretary of State to visit Pakistan
www.chinaview.cn 2005-10-12 14:48:59

ISLAMABAD, Oct. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit Pakistan on Wednesday to show support for a anti-terror ally hit by the deadliest earthquake in the country's history, the private Geo television reported.

The top US diplomat, who is in neighboring Afghanistan on a previously scheduled trip, will hold talks with President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on a visit planned to last less than two hours.

Rice told reporters aboard her plane before landing in Kabul that her message to the Pakistani people was that "the international community and the people of the United States are with them in this terrible time."

Rice vowed to mobilize long-term international support to help Pakistan recover from the earthquake.

The United States has provided emergency aid and flown in military aircraft to help with relief operations in Pakistan. Endtiem
