Quake death toll reaches over 950 in Indian-controlled Kashmir

    SRINAGAR, Oct. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- The death toll in the devastating earthquake in Indian-controlled Kashmir Tuesday mounted over 950, with the worst-hit Baramulla district alone accounting for 619 fatalities.

    The massive quake, which occurred Saturday morning, injured over 4,000 people and damaged some 30,000 houses in the region, an official spokesman said here. Enditem
