RAMALLAH, Oct. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas said here
on Monday that he was ready to meet Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon at any
time.
Abbas, however, said that thorough preparations should be made for any such
summit.
The Palestinian sources said the summit planned for Tuesday might be
postponed to November since it was unlikely that themeeting would achieve
breakthroughs.
After two rounds of preliminary talks between Sharon's adviser Dov
Weissglas and chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, Israel declared on
Sunday that it would not make any hasty decisions regarding key concessions to
the Palestinians.
As to the demand by the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) to reshuffle
the cabinet within two weeks for failing to stop the armed chaos in Gaza, Abbas
said he was still discussing the issue with incumbent Prime Minister Ahmed
Qurei. Enditem |
