China says Mount Qomolangma stands at 8844.43

Mt. Qomolangma stands at 8844.43 meters according to the latest figure issued by State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping of China on Oct. 9, 2005.

    BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- The latest measured height of Mount Qomolangma is 8844.43 meters, the Chinese State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping announced here on Sunday morning.

    The previous measurement done by Chinese in 1975 reported the height of Mount Qomolangma, the world's highest mountain, was 8,848.13 meters above sea level. Enditem
