Mao Zedong's red book selling well in Taiwan

Taipei publisher Yang Yifeng shows the recently published "Mao's Sayings." He said that the publication of this book was "to service the people" and he was totally taken by surprise that the book is so warmly received by the locals.
BEIJING, Oct. 7 -- Yang Yifeng started out as a film director and actor and has only been a publisher in Taipei for three years. Recently, the company under his care did something in Taiwan which stirred up a lot of attention, the publication of "Mao Zedong's sayings", and it has already had multiple reprints, reaching the fourth reprint by now.

This excellent reception has taken him by surprise. "Originally I thought I was acting "in the interests of the people" and was totally unprepared for the enthusiastic reception accorded to the book."

He said, "The reason I published a book like "Mao Zedong's sayings" is to fill the void in the scholarly 'jigsaw'."

He believed that the book is a valuable one. Irrespective of the book's political influence, the wisdom between the lines regarding management of companies alone is worth the money. He used this example, "Even Chairman Mao told us in his book how to run a proper meeting."

Yang said that "Mao Zedong's sayings" becoming a bestseller in Taiwan means that no matter how readers view this book, from whatever angles or with what attitudes, it at least reflects reader interest and market demands and also that the masses in society need this type of knowledge.
