Death toll rises to 25 in explosion in Iraq's Hillah town

   BAGHDAD, Oct. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- A suicide bomber blew himself up in front of a Shiite mosque south of Baghdad on Wednesday ,killing at least 25 people and wounding 87, a source from the Interior Ministry said.

   The explosion occurred near the entrance of a Shiite mosque in Hillah, a town 100 km south of Baghdad when worshippers gathered for prayers ahead of the end of the day's Ramadan fast, during which the Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

   Earlier, police said that the car bombing attack killed at least 10 people and wounded 40 others.

   Last Friday, a car bomb exploded in a crowded market in Hillah, killing 10 people, including one woman and two children, and injuring 30. Enditem
