GAZA, Oct. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas urged the Palestinians on Monday to stand up against the armed chaos in the Gaza Strip.
Abbas said he won't keep quiet as hundreds of angry Palestinians buried three people shot dead during the clashes in Gaza City on Sunday evening between Hamas militants and police forces trying to impose an arms ban.
Abbas told the families of the police officers at his Gaza office that the Palestinian people should now raise their voice loudly.
He added that what happened in Gaza is "irresponsible and would damage our image before the world."
Abbas pledged to end chaos in the Palestinian territories after Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip on Sept. 12.
"We are ready to use all means in order to end the phenomena of showing arms in public," said Abbas. Enditem |
