Labour confirmed as largest party in New Zealand vote

    WELLINGTON, Oct. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Prime Minister Helen Clark's ruling Labour Party was confirmed as the largest party in New Zealand's new parliament, according to final election results released Saturday.

    Labour Party had 41 percent of the vote compared with 39 percent for the conservative National opposition when the results were declared official after the counting of more than 200,000 absentee and overseas votes. Enditem
