KABUL, Sept. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Four US soldiers were wounded Friday as their car was struck by a bomb in Afghan eastern province of Kunar, US military said.

"The unit was returning from defusing another bomb near Asadabad, the provincial capital of Kunar at the time of the attack. The wounded were evacuated to Bagram of Afghan capital Kabul where they are currently listed in stable condition," it said.

Afghan and US forces immediately secured the scene of the attack and are conducting offensive operations to kill or capture those responsible, it added.

Taliban militants, who failed to derail the Afghan first-ever parliamentary elections after more than three decades years on Sept. 18, have intensified their attacks against Afghan and US-dominated foreign troops.

Over two dozen people including seven American soldiers and a parliamentary candidate have been killed in Taliban-led militancy since holding the landmark elections two weeks ago while over 40 others injured. Enditem
