TEHRAN, Sept. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Hundreds of university students on Wednesday staged protest against the European Union's stance on Iran's nuclear case in front of the British Embassy in Tehran, with some conflicting with police at the scene.

The students, chanting slogans and holding placards, condem neda resolution on the Iranian nuclear issue adopted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Saturday, a witnesstold Xinhua.

They voiced their support for the government's steadfastness onthe nuclear issue, the witness said.

However, some of the students went extreme by throwing stone atthe embassy and trying to break into the embassy, and they conflicted with police, the witness said, adding police used teargas and batons to disperse the irritated students.

The IAEA resolution, drafted by the EU, accused Iran ofbreaching international nuclear safeguards and having suspiciousnuclear activities and urged Tehran to fully suspend all of itsactivities related to uranium enrichment, warning a defiance might lead to the referral of Iran's case to the UN Security Council.

Iran rejected the resolution as illegal and unacceptable, urging the IAEA and the EU to "correct" it and threatening tocancel all its voluntary and temporary concessions, including the implementation of the Additional Protocol of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Earlier in the day, the Iranian parliament approved a motion tobegin discussions on a plan aimed at pressing the government to cease the implementation of the NPT Additional Protocol. Enditem
