KIEV, Sept. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko signed a series of decrees on Tuesday appointing two deputy prime ministers and 14 ministers in a revamped government.
Stanislav Stashevsky, a parliamentary deputy, was appointed as first deputy prime minister and Vyacheslav Kyrylenko as deputy prime minister responsible for humanitarian issues, said the Ukrainian Information Bureau.
Anatoly Kinahk, first deputy prime minister under outgoing Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, was named head of the National Security Council, to replace Yushchenko's longtime ally Petro Poroshenko.
Twelve of the appointees had served in Tymoshenko's government, including Foreign Minister Boris Tarasyuk and Defense Minister Anatoly Gritsenko.
Five vacancies remained to be filled, including the posts of interior minister and finance minister.
Yushcheko had already named Yury Yekhanurov prime minister after he fired Tymoshenko and her cabinet on Sept. 8.
Yekhanurov announced earlier that he will form a new cabinet later this week. Enditem |
