22 bodies discovered in eastern Iraq

BAGHDAD, Sept. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Iraqi police discovered 22 unidentified bodies near the Iranian border, an Interior Ministry source said on Tuesday.

"The Iraqi police patrols found 22 unidentified bodies in an open land near Jassan area near the Iranian border," the source told Xinhua.

"All the 22 bodies were hooded with plastic bags and were shot in the back of their heads," the source said.

Tensions increased in Iraq between Shiite and Sunni Muslims, as the influential Sunni Association of Muslim Scholars kept blaming the Shiite-dominated security forces for killing detainees for sectarian hatred.

Dozens of bodies have been found in many Iraqi cities with both Sunnis and Shiites as victims during the past months. Enditem
