IRA completely disarmed: commission

    LONDON, Sept. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- The Irish Republican Army (IRA) has been totally disarmed, an international body monitoring the disarmament in Northern Ireland announced on Monday.

    "We are satisfied that the arms decommissioned represent the totality of the IRA's arsenal," General John de Chastelain, head of the International Decommissioning Commission in Northern Ireland said at a news conference, accompanied by the two churchmen who witnessed the decommissioning process.

    General de Chastelain's report confirming that IRA decommissioning had been completed was given to the British and Irish governments earlier on Monday. Enditem
