wounded by a bomb placed under her car north of the capital Beirut, local TV LBC
reported Sunday.
May Shidyak, working for the private Lebanese Broadcasting
Corporation, was wounded in the explosion, which was caused by a bomb planted
under her car in the Christian coastal town of Jounieh, north of the capital,
Lebanese security sources said.
Shidyak was in critical condition and has been taken to
hospital, the sources said.
Shidyak is anchorwoman in a political talk show in the LBC, a
vocal opponent of Syria.
Lebanon has witnessed a round of bombing attacks since the
former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was killed in a massive car bombing in
central Beirut on Feb. 14.

post-war revival and an anti-Syrian politician, triggered international outcry
and popular Lebanese opposition against Syria, a long-time power broker in
Lebanon.
Damascus denies any role in the Hariri killing, but withdrew its
forces in April under mounting international pressure, ending its 29-year
military presence in its tiny neighbor.
Two explosions rocked Beirut in the middle of September, killing
one people and wounding several others. Enditem |
