Embassy bomber sentenced to ten years in jail

    JAKARTA, Sept. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- An Indonesian court here Thursday sentence to ten years in jail for a militant bomber of Australian embassy in September last year that claimed ten people and wounded over one hundred others.

    Saipul Bahri alias Apuy was found guilty of implicating on terrorist acts and hiding perpetrators of terrorist acts, the most wanted terrorist suspects Azahari Husin, a bomb expert and Noerdin Mohammad Top, a terror coordinator of Al-Qaeda link in Souheast Asia Jemaah Islamiyah, preceding judge Sutjahjp Padmo said at the South Jakarta court.

    "The defendant is legally and convincingly guilty of violating anti-terror laws by helping others commit acts of terrorism," said Padmo when reading the verdict.

    The 36-year-old Apuy said that he would appeal to a higher court.

    The September's suicide bombing also seriously damaged dozens of surrounding buildings.

    Previously, the court sentenced two other perpetrators of the embassy blast to death. Enditem
