JERUSALEM, Sept. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Israel Defense Forces (IDF)troops have completed its pullout from all four settlements in northern West Bank under the government's disengagement plan, local newspaper Jerusalem Post reported on Wednesday.
The troops completed the withdrawal in the West Bank on Tuesday night, marking the end of the disengagement process, said the report.
However, the four settlements located in Area C in northern West Bank, which are under sole Israeli control, will not be handed over to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) unlike those in the Gaza Strip, according to the report.
IDF operations will now focus on mobile patrols in the area in addition to maintaining several surveillance positions, added the report.
Under the Israeli disengagement plan, Jewish settlers and Israeli army troops had already completed the evacuation of all 21 settlements in the Gaza Strip by the end of last month. Enditem |
