BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- The management methods on temporary resident identity cards, which were promulgated by the Ministry of Public Security recently, will go into effect on October 1st.

    At the same time, the old management methods on temporary resident identity cards, which were promulgated on September 15, 1989, will be abolished.

    The management methods regulate that a citizen of the People's Republic of China is entitled to apply for a temporary identity card when his or her identity card is expired and he or she waits to receive a new one, or when his or her identity card is lost andhe or she waits for receiving a new one.

    The temporary identity card has the legal effect of confirming citizen's identity. Any units and their work staff could not turn down the temporary identity card, according to the management methods.

    The management methods also regulate the format, registration items and terms of validity of the temporary identity card, sayingthat the registration items for applying for a temporary identity card include name, sex, nationality, birthday, address of permanent residence, ID card number, term of validity of the ID card and its registration organ.

    The term of validity of a temporary identity card is three months. Enditem
