WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- The US government said on Thursday that it will hold a new round of negotiations with China on textiles trade here on September 26-27.

The US Trade Representative office announced that the US delegations will be led by David Spooner, the chief US negotiator on textiles trade.

The new meeting comes after US-Chinese textile talks in Beijingended late last month without an agreement.

Meanwhile, the US textile industry asked the US government on Thursday for new safeguards against the Chinese exports. A coalition of industry organizations filed petitions with the US government demanding the renewal of nine quota safeguards coveringsixteen categories of textile imports from China through to the end of 2006.
