Firework plant blast kills 10 in Hunan

    CHANGSHA, Sept. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- A firework plant blast Thursday has claimed ten lives and left four other people injured, in Anhua county of central-south China's Hunan Province, according to local government sources.

    Li Huashan, director of the Anhua work safety supervision bureau, told Xinhua that the blast occurred at about 5:00 p.m., when it first banged in a workshop and then exploded in another six workshops of the Jiangnan Fireworks Plant.

    The blast has devastated a space of approximately 500 square meters and all the workshops turned into debris. Ten people were confirmed dead and four others injured, with one severely injured at 9:30 p.m..

    According to Li, there were 17 fireworks plant in Anhua county,and eight of them were already closed because of security reasons. กก
