Accusations splinter Ukraine leadership
www.chinaview.cn 2005-09-14 11:19:08

BEIJING, Sept. 14 -- Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has accused former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko of improperly using her office to try to settle old business debts.

In an interview with APTN, Yushchenko said he had dismissed Tymoshenko's seven-month old government because it was too embroiled in internal bickering and losing sight of their original promises.

Yushchenko said the re-privatization of the Kryvorizhstal steel mill would proceed as planned on October 24.

But he added that the government would not attempt to challenge any other murky deals from the past. The move is a reversal from the course adopted by Tymoshenko.

Yushchenko and Tymoshenko now look set to become bitter rivals in the March parliamentary election.
