JAKARTA, Sept. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- An Indonesian militant was sentenced to death
Wednesday for a major role in the Australian embassy bombing on Sept. 9 last
year, the second man in the death row for the similar case.

found guilty of the act of terrorism that claimed the lives of 11 people and
injured more than 200 others.
"The defendant has shown no remorse and twisted the facts," presiding judge
Welang said when reading the verdict.
Ahmad, 34, is accused of assisting the alleged masterminds in the attack,
Malaysian nationals Azahari Husin and Noordin Moh top,by harboring them,
providing a van and preparing the explosives used in the attack.

Ahmad also helped plant the explosives inside a van that was used to carry
out the attack by a suicide bomber named Heri Golun.
Earlier on Tuesday, the same court also rendered capital punishment on Iwan
Darmawan alias Rois, 29, for the similar case.
Terrorism, along with drug trafficking, treason and serial murders, carries the maximum sentence of death by the firing squad in the country. Enditem |
