BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- China's Wang Yu nipped 7-6, 6-1 against qualifier Luka Gregorc here on Tuesday to make a through to the second round of the 500,000 US dollars ATP tournament of 2005 China Open.

Later in the night, the only other two Chinese in the men's singles first round Zeng Shaoxuan and Sun Peng will respectively take the second-seeded Argentine Guillermo Coria and lucky loser Toshihide Matsui as the Japanese entered the main draw after fifth seed Dominik Hrbaty from Slovakia announced his withdrawal Monday due to injury.

In the first match at Court 1 between Wang and Gregorc, the Chinese wasted four break points in the first set but won the tiebreaker 7-5 to take an upper-hand.

Wang, entering the tournament with a wildcard, will next play Peter Wessels as the Dutch overcame Australian Wayne Arthurs 7-6 (5) and 6-4 on Monday.

Fourth seed Thomas Johansson and qualifier Amir Hadad from Israel also reached the second round as Johansson made short work of fellow Swede Jonas Bjorkman 6-4, 6-3, and Hadad beat Dick Norman from Belgium 7-5, 7-6(7) to make through.

All first round matches will conclude Tuesday evening but top seed Rafael Nadal's China Open debut, which had to be postponed again since the world number two's counterpart Wang Yeu-Tzuoo had yet to show up here due to private business in Turkey. Enditem
