| French President Jacques Chirac is speaking to reporters as he leaves the military hospital in Paris after a week's stay for treatment of what doctors said was a vascular incident that impaired vision, Friday Sept. 9, 2005. | PARIS, Sept. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- French President
Jacques Chirac should avoid any air travel in the following six weeks after his
treatment for a vascular ailment, doctors said Friday.
The president's health "is very satisfying," said the
doctors of the Val-de-Grace military hospital where Chirac had been
hospitalized.
Chirac had to "get as much rest as possible for the
coming two weeks" and "avoid any air travel during the following six weeks," the
doctors said in a statement.
According to the statement, Chirac would not be able
to go to New York next week to attend a United Nations summit of world leaders.
The 72-year-old president left the hospital earlier in
the day. He told journalists that he was "in very good form" as he walked with
doctors in the courtyard of the military hospital in Paris.
"I am now going to go home and resume my activities.
My doctorshave told me to be sensible for a week, and so as I am a disciplined
person I shall be sensible," Chirac said.
He was hospitalized last Friday evening in the wake of a "vascular incident" believed to have been caused by a blood clot. Enditem |
