Israel demolishes Erez border building as part of final pullout

    JERUSALEM, Sept. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- The Israel Defense Forces was blowing up military liaison buildings at the Erez border crossing in the northmost Gaza Strip Friday morning as part of its withdrawal from the strip, Israel Radio reported.

    Also in Friday morning, Israelis, Palestinians and Egyptians areset to work at their joint headquarters at the Kerem Shalom border crossing in eastern Gaza to coordinate Israeli army's exit.

    The crossing is about 3 km away from Egypt.

    The gates of Kissufim crossing between Israel and already evacuated settlements of Gush Katif are due to be locked Monday, after the last armed convoy leaves the strip by Monday morning.

    Israel is preparing for the creation of an extensive system of border crossings and terminals for the passage of people and goods.

    When it is completed, it will consist of 33 crossing points between Israel and the West Bank and two or three between Israel and the Gaza Strip.

    Israel evacuated all 21 settlements in the Gaza Strip and four in the northern West Bank last month, its first withdrawal form lands Palestinians want for a state. Enditem
