Israel: Poisoning or AIDS may lead to Arafat death
www.chinaview.cn 2005-09-08 18:34:07

GAZA, Sept. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli doctors who have seen the medical report of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat revealed that the main possibilities that lead to the death of Arafat were poisoning or AIDS, local newspaper Ha'aretz reported Thursday on its website.

According to Ha'aretz webite, the findings in Arafat death report are being published in the edition of an Israeli book "The Seventh War" that deals with the Israeli-Palestinian war.

The webite said that the report didn't reveal about all mystery that surrounded Arafat's death, however, it lists the immediate cause of death as a massive brain hemorrhage.

Arafat passed away on Nov. 11, 2004 at the Military Hospital of Perci in Paris. Till the moment the main reason that caused the death of Arafat is still unclear.

In August, media reports quoted Samir Helileh, Secretary General of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), as saying that there are suspicions that Arafat died of poison and that it was approved by initial medical reports.

The specialized committee formed to investigate the reasons behind Arafat death asserted that "Arafat had died poisoned", hewas quoted as saying.

But Helileh "totally" denied the reports, saying that he didn'tmake such statements to any journalist that Arafat died as a result of being poisoned.

He explained to Xinhua on telephone that "what I said in an interview with a local magazine report that the possibility of being poisoned is considered, but nothing is confirmed until now. We will be waiting for the final results of the committee."

"I exactly said that the Palestinian medical committee to follow up the reasons for President Arafat death has not yet finalized its medical reports. I said the final reports would be ready within the coming few weeks," he stressed.  Enditem
