GAZA, Sept. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- An agreement has been reached between the Palestinians and Israel to shut the Rafah terminal in the coming days to prepare for Israel's army withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, well-informed Palestinian sources said on Wednesday.
According to the sources, Israel is under mounting pressure to reach an agreement with the Palestinians over the mechanism of operating Rafah crossing following Israel's disengagement from Gaza.
The issue of Rafah crossing, on the border between Gaza and Egypt, is considered one of the most important pending issues sincethe start of the withdrawal operation.
Israeli sources had earlier said Palestinian travelers might be suggested to use a new terminal which would be built at Kerem Shalom.
But the idea was bluntly rejected by the Palestinian side, which claimed the Palestinian National Authority would not use Kerem Shalom as a border for people and goods, even if as a transitional solution. Enditem
