BEIJING, Sept. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Five sculptures created by renowned Chinese
sculptor Yuan Xikun were shipped from Beijing to New York on Tuesday for display
at a ceremony marking the 60 founding anniversary of the United Nations.
The five sculptures are of Abraham Lincoln, Leonhard Euler, Albert
Einstein, Rajiv Gandhi and Charles Darwin.
After the exhibition, the sculptures of Lincoln, Euler and Darwin will be
collected by United States museums and universities. Another two statues are to
be put on charity sales, proceeds from which will be donated to people suffering
in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Yuan said the Chinese were deeply concerned over the disaster in southern
United States. He hopes to offer his loving care and his humble efforts to help
those victims. Enditem
