RIYADH, Sept. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Five militants have been killed in an ongoing clash with Saudi security forces in the oil-rich kingdom since Sunday, security sources said Tuesday.
Three of the five suspected al-Qaida members were killed Monday evening and the other two were killed on Sunday when the Saudi security forces began an assault on the militants' hideout in the eastern oil city of Dammam.
The sources didn't say whether the killed suspects were on a most-wanted militant list by the authorities.
At least two policemen were also killed in the operation, the sources added.
The kingdom has been engaged in fights against al-Qaida militants since May 2003, who were blamed for dozens of bombings and attacks, mostly against foreign targets in the world's top crude exporter. Enditem |
