Roadside bomb kills US soldier in northern Iraq

    BAGHDAD, Sept. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- A roadside bomb struck a US military vehicle in Iraq's northern town of Tal Afar, the US military said on Tuesday.

    The attack took place on Monday near the flashpoint town, some 450 km northwest of Baghdad, where the US-Iraqi forces were conducting a military offensive to eradicate insurgency in parts ofthe town, the military said.

    Over 1,880 US soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the US-led invasion in March 2003, according to media tally. Enditem
