NEW DELHI, Sept. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said
Monday his government was ready to reduce forces from the Kashmir to end
cessation to violence and infiltration.
In a statement issued at the end of talks with the separatist conglomerate,
All Parties Hurriyat Conference, an amalgam from Indian-controlled Kashmir,
Singh reaffirmed his faith in the peaceful solution of all issues pertaining to
Kashmir, and said that violence had no role in democracy.
This was the first interface of the separatist leaders from Kashmir with
the Indian Prime Minister, as the earlier two rounds had taken place with the
then Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishen Advani during the former National
Democratic Alliance Government in New Delhi.
The statement, readout by Indian Prime Minister's Media Advisor Sanjaya
Baru, said that the Indian Government had agreed to reviewall cases of those
held in detention and ensure that violation of human dignity and would not be
tolerated, and that the Government would take all measures to safeguard human
rights violations.
Welcoming the resumption of dialogues between the Kashmiri separatist
leaders and the Indian Government, the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment
to ensuring a life of peace, self-respect and dignity for the people of
Indian-controlled Kashmir.
It was decided to carry forward the dialogue process so that all regions,
and all shades of political opinion are involved.
While welcoming New Delhi's efforts to re-start the dialogue process, The All Partis Hurriyat Conference, said that an honorable and durable solution should be found through dialogue. Enditem |
