GAZA, Sept. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- At least four
Palestinians were killed and 30 others injured Monday night after a huge
explosion damaged a house in Sheja'eya neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City,
Palestinian witnesses and security sources said.
The blast was heard all over Gaza City, and
ambulances and firefighters as well as dozens of residents rushed to the scene
to evacuate the victims, security sources said.
Witnesses said electricity was cut off right after
the explosion.
Palestinian medics in Gaza said at least four people
were killed, one of them a woman, and 30 residents were injured in the
explosion.
The explosion could be caused due to an explosive
device that suddenly detonated in one of houses in the overcrowded neighborhood.
Sheja'eya is known as a stronghold for Islamic groups, according to witnesses.
Local residents said Israeli helicopters flew over
the area shortly before the explosion. Enditem |
