BAGHDAD, Sep. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- A car bomb exploded near a US military convoy in southern Baghdad on Monday, injuring three civilians, police said.

"A car bomb detonated near a US convoy in Baghdad's southern district of Saiydiah. Three civilians were injured and a US military vehicle was damaged," an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

"Police saw there were American soldiers wounded but they don't know the exact number," he added.

The US troops cordoned off the area preventing people and Iraqi police from approaching the scene, he said.   Enditem
