Victory a turning point in China's march toward rejuvenation

The victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was a historical turning point in the Chinese nation's march toward rejuvenation, said President Hu.

"Precisely on the basis of this victory the Communist Party of China proceeded to lead the Chinese people in winning the new-democratic revolution and founding the People's Republic of China, which represents the greatest and most profound social transformation in China's history," said Hu when delivering a speech marking the 60th anniversary of victory at the Great Hall of the People.

The victory of the war further inspired the awakening of the Chinese nation and laid an important foundation for the complete independence and liberation of the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, according to Hu.

"The CPC was the strong backbone leading the Chinese people's struggle for national independence and people's liberation," he said.
