    Support for UN reform     

    Chinese President Hu Jintao said that China supports rational and necessary reforms of the United Nations aimed at improving its authority and efficiency.

    He also said the reform should also aim at "seeking equitable representation of different countries, especially developing ones,and bringing into better play the positive role of the UN and the UN Security Council in maintain world peace and promoting common development".

    Hu made the remarks while addressing a grand gathering in the Great Hall of the People to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War Against Japanese Aggression and the victory of the World Anti-Fascists War.
