Denmark best at helping impoverished countries

    STOCKHOLM, Aug. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- The quality and quantity of Danish developmental aid is the best in the world, Ritzau news bureau reported on Wednesday.

    A new US study finds that Denmark is the best country in the world in the fight to help impoverished countries.

    The study, carried out by the Center for Global Development andpublished in the journal Foreign Policy, measured the amount and effectiveness of developmental aid from 21 industrialized countries.

    Denmark was the top-rated country when it came to aid, trade, investments, migration, environment, security and technology.

    "Danish developmental aid is the best in the world in terms of both quality and quantity, seen in relation to its size," concluded the center.

    Also making the top five were Denmark's Nordic neighbors Swedenand Norway, followed by Australia and Holland.

    The United States took twelfth place, while Japan brought up the rear. Enditem
