President Hu expresses sympathy over US hurricane disaster

    BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao Wednesday sent a message of sympathy to US President George W. Bush after Hurricane katrina swept through several states of the country and caused heavy casualties and property damage there.

    In his message, Hu, on behalf of the Chinese government and people and in his own name, expressed deep sympathies for Bush, the US government and the American people over the hurricane disaster. Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are the worst hit states.

    Hu expressed the belief that the American people will overcome the aftermath of the disaster and rebuild their homeland. Enditem
