TOKYO, Aug. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- A woman deliberately hurt her own neck in front of the Japanese prime minister's official residence Tuesday morning, Kyodo News reported.

The woman hurt herself inside a vehicle when security guards kept it from entering the main gate of the prime minister's official residence at around 10:15 a.m.(0115 GMT), Kyodo said.

The woman in her 50s was in a critical condition at a hospital.

Jiji Press said the woman possessed a number of leaflets denouncing the Koizumi government.

Koizumi was away from his office at the time to hold a rally for the official start of campaigning for the Sept. 11 general elections. Enditem
