JAKARTA, Aug. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- The British Embassy
in Jakarta was evacuated on Monday after it received a suspicious package that
turned out to be harmless, police and an embassy spokeswoman said.
The package contained only prawn crackers, a Walkman
and a pair of speakers, said police Inspector Sulyanto.
It was unclear who sent it to the heavily fortified
mission in central Jakarta.
"The embassy thought the package seemed strange and
we came to check it," said Sulyanto.
British embassy press officer Faye Belnis said the
embassy had been evacuated.
"We received a suspicious package and have informed
the authorities about it. We have evacuated all staff," Belnis said.
The bomb squad found nothing inside the embassy,
police said. Enditem |
