RAMALLAH, Aug. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) cabinet met on Sunday in the town of Abu Dis in east Jerusalem in response to Israel's decision to confiscate Palestinian lands, a senior official said.

    Sameer Hleileh, secretary general of the PNA cabinet, told the Voice of Palestine radio that the cabinet meeting was heldfollowing an Israeli decision last week that talked about confiscating around 2000 donoms (187.86 hectares) of Palestinian lands.

    The Israeli decision to build a separation wall in southern Jerusalem means practically annexing Palestinian lands, he said, accusing Israel of acting to carry out its old plan that aims at separating the West Bank into northern and southern parts.

    This step would make the geographical communication in a vital future Palestinian state would be impossible, he added.

    Hleileh asserted that the Israeli decision to confiscate more lands close to Jerusalem would leave serious dangers that will threaten the peace process between the Palestinian and the Israeli sides.

    The Palestinian cabinet discussed the ways to face this new settlement plan and how to support the Palestinians in Jerusalem, he said, adding there must be a popular and formal campaign to face this Israeli plan.

    There must be a serious international position towards these Israeli practices and a diplomatic campaign to discuss the ways to keep away this Israeli plan that aims at isolating Jerusalem and strengthening measures against the Jerusalem people, Hleileh urged.Enditem
