BAGHDAD, Aug. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said Sunday that the draft constitution is ready to be put to referendum on Oct. 15, hoping Iraqis would support it.

"The draft constitution is ready and will be presented to the Iraqi people, to give their opinion on October 15," Talabani told reporters at a news conference in the heavily fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad.

"We hope that the draft would be accepted by all Iraqis," he said, "We are optimistic."

However, Talabani conceded that there is "no perfect book that cannot be amended except the holy Koran."

In the meantime, Iraq's parliament speaker Hachim al-Hassani urged Iraqis to think of the unity of their country."We did our best to include everybody's demands, but still some people have objections over some points, even me, I have some reservations," Hassani said. Enditem
