GAZA, Aug. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday slammed a suicide bombing attack in the southern Israeli city of Be'er Sheva as a terrorist operation against civilians.

"It is necessary for everyone to be committed to a calm agreement," Abbas said in a statement.

Abbas called on Palestinian political factions and militant groups to exercise self-restraint, describing Israel's raid of the West Bank city of Tulkarm three day ago as provocation, which killed five Palestinians.

Abbas reiterated his call for Israel to keep its commitment to the truce and stop all acts of incursions and assassinations in thePalestinian territories.

A suicide bomber blew himself up near the central bus station inBe'er Sheva during the morning rush hour on Sunday, injuring at least 21 people.

The attack came after Israel completed its evacuation of 25 settlements in the Gaza Strip and part of northern West Bank last Tuesday. Enditem
