www.chinaview.cn 2005-08-28 09:46:20

BAGHDAD, Aug. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Four Sunni Arab ministers and one deputy prime minister in the Iraqi government voiced their objections on Saturday against the draft constitution.

The statement was issued by Culture Minister Nouri Farhan al-Rawi, Minister of State for Women's Affairs Azhar Abdel-Karim, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Saad al-Hardan, Industry Minister Osama al-Najafi and Deputy Prime Minister Abed Mutlaq al-Jbouri.

The statement listed 13 points that they thought need amending.

The points include delaying a decision on federalism to the next parliament election and removing any mention of Saddam Hussein's Baath Party from the draft.

They also could not accept referring to Iraq as an Islamic nation instead of an Arab nation. Enditem
