GUIYANG, Aug. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Fifteen miners were killed in a gas outburst in a local coal mine in Renhuai City, southwest China's Guizhou Province.

    The accident took place at Zhulinwan Coal Mine, a newly built coal producing base with an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons, around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday when 21 miners were working beneath the shaft. Only two miners escaped the site of the accident, said sources from Guizhou Provincial Bureau of Coal Mine Safety.

    By 6:00 a.m. on Friday, rescue workers successfully rescued four miners and found remains of six others killed in the accident. Remains of the six were hoisted to the ground.

    The local police has been hunting for Li Zhenping, owner of the Zhulinwan Coal Mine, who has gone fugitive after the accident.

    Rescue operation was still going on by press time.

    Cause of the accident is under investigation. Enditem
